The Four Seasons by Vivaldi: A Winter Reflection with Itzhak Perlman

Hello to all the beautiful readers who have chosen to spend 10 minutes with one of the greatest violinists in human history, Itzhak Perlman! We are fortunate to have access to so many beautiful songs and books from these elite artists with just a click of a button or a touch of a screen—a privilege our ancestors could hardly have imagined and one that was once reserved for only a small number of people, like Louis of France!

As we move closer and closer to the end of winter, I have chosen The Four Seasons, composed by Antonio Vivaldi—another king of music and one of the most prolific composers of the Baroque era—to listen to and experience the ocean of emotions. Through the silence of frozen lakes, the delicate snowfall drifting down in peace, and the solid mountains blanketed in white beauty, winter speaks to us in its own poetic language. And through its coldness, it kindly whispers to us, “Hey, don’t ever be sad or worried about anything. If I am cold, it’s only because I’m gently reminding you to wear more layers.” It also brings you the glad tidings that a beautiful spring is coming soon, with all its grace and beauty, ready to bloom once more.

Like the different phases of winter, each with its own world and emotions, I feel this beautiful music reflects them through its distinct movements—Allegro Non Molto, Largo, Allegro—allowing us to experience them personally.

I will say no more and let silence take over, so we can truly listen to this beautiful piece.
